CAGECITY Through-out the Era's..

Being a bit of a vintage fiend, I love my fashion from the past era's. Actually I think I was defiantly born to the wrong generation, I would of loved to of experienced London in the 1960's-70's. They're was so much going on and people were experimenting with fashion in a way we don't see anymore. 

Everything was revolutionary and fashion was constantly changing. Fashion is constantly evolving but what we see now is simply recycling trends from the past so essentially nothing is groundbreaking and new anymore! 

Its not just fashion, there was so much going on in the music scene and I think peoples attitudes were far more creative and accepting towards others, people nowadays tend to dress themselves with the aim of impressing other people rather than pleasing themselves! Well here at CAGECITY we're firm believers in going against this notion of religiously following trends and dressing like everyone else! We wear what we wanna wear even if it turns a few heads ;) 

We've rounded up some CAGECITY pieces inspired by the 60's, 70's 80's and 90's!

STYLE INSPO... BLACK EVERYTHANGG!

Styled...with all black everythanggg!! 

We are suckers for black here at the CAGECITY offices! You really just can't go wrong! No matter the season...black works! 

I've thrown together some looks from a few of our new in pieces. 

Look 1 - HOLE LOTTA ARM TOP... Leather goes perfect with this top...it adds rawness and edge...so i've chosen a leather dungaree dress. I've added in some sheer pop socks to add a cheeky bit of sex into the mix! 

Look 2- PALE ASHES SHORTS... these shorts give off a sporty feel, and could easily be worn with pumps and a backwards cap...if you wana go quite urban. I went for the opposite, i like sleek, chic against quite sporty...so i opted for a sheer shirt over a plain simple bra and a big envelope clutch. 

Look 3 - MAGIC DRAGON KNIT TANK... I look at this top and see festival...Its bright and colourful and compfy too! This is how i would rock it, sticking to the black theme...long fringe skirt, floppy hat and leather side bag! I would chuck a black chocker on too go for a bit of a boho goth!

BIG LOVE Friday... After one crazy week!

This week has been a little mental at the CAGECITY hq! We were dealing with some annoying tech issues...didn't get to see our beautiful site for two days :(...we were getting serious withdrawal symptoms! After a year of seeing it multiple times a day suppose it's bound to happen! LOL Did you miss it too!? Hope so! :) 

The good news....It's back...and it's even better, it's faster and more efficient, so that will never happen again...promise! These bumps are all part of the ride, feel the rough to get to the smooth ay ;). 

So the usual Love Friday blog...has now turnt into the BIG love Friday...because we are super happy to see the back of this week, and we just don't have the usual weekly lovings to share...booooo!! 

Next weeks blog posts will all be back to normal! Check back next Friday to see the weekly lovings as always!

LOVE Friday...

So what are we loving this Friday?? 

First off a HUGE welcome back to our gorgeous CAGECITY model Sharon! Fun and full of energy, she helped us shoot some lovely new bits for the site. #weheartsharon 

Next, we are loving another babe that is Miss Rosie Fortescue from Made in Chelsea (bit obsessed with MIC, check out twitter on Monday nights for our live chat!). Spotted in our Style Stalker Kravitz pants on episode 1 and on her street style blog, Rosie keeps it cool pairing the pants with chic trench. 

And finally, sending CAGECITY love to the talented Joe O'Rourke who helped with our mini revamp of the office. We have got a few new desks and chairs (bye bye bean bags-sob!). Joe created an amazing bit art (which my laptop is currently resting on as the artwork has been sprayed on one of the new tables). Thank you Joe!

CAGECITY X JOE O'ROURKE

Introducing Joseph O' Rourke, the freshfaced talented 18 year old that is responsible for all CAGECITY's graff work!

We got Joe in for a little chat so you get an insight into the guy behind the art!

Describe what you do?

I would describe my work as being somewhere between psychedelic and old school graffiti.

when did you really get into art?

I started young when I would visit art gallery's in central London and be inspired by the artwork all over the trains and train tracks in the late 90's. I started painting commissions at 15 in 09.

What inspires your work?

I'm inspired by classic surrealist painters like Salvador Dali and early pop art. A lot of my graffiti is inspired by the hip hop and wild style movements in the 70's coming from New York. 

Do you have a favourite artist/piece?

I can't say I favour any one thing because I'm constantly finding new artists who interest me and as I get older the way I think about art is changing.

What's next for joe?

I'm aiming to be in university by September this year and to get a degree in fine art. One day I hope to be able to live off of what I earn from doing my thing.

I love having the chance to work with cagecity and be a part of something independent and unique I hope I can carry on doing work like this for a long time.

Rosie MIC rocking CAGECITY in Eps 1!!

Made in Chelsea, you either love it or hate it, in our case we hate to love it...but what we love either more, is catching Rosie rockin' CAGECITY! 

Not only did we see a lovely feature on Rosie's blog AT FASHION FORTE .....CAGECITY's Kravitz pants also made a little cameo in the first episode of the new MIC season! Now that we LOVEEE!! 

We love how Rosie styled them, sleek yet chilled...bang on Rosie!

SHE'S BACCKKK...

It was so great having our gorgeous Sharon back in the studio! Always full of life and energy! The perfect buzz for the CAGECITY offices! And it shines through the images...don't you think? Check out that cute smile :) 

Sharon was one of our first models here at CAGECITY for SS12...and we loved working with her so much, we just had to have her back....and this time she came back even more fierce!

Australia Fashion Week SS13!

As you know here at CAGECITY we love our Aussie brands, this week Australia Fashion Week kicked off so we thought we'd give you a little round up of some of the show highlights! 

Camilla and Marc celebrating 10 years since their Fashion Week debut, siblings Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman kept silhouette's sleek and modern adding contrasting textures and prints to their trademark tailoring. The collection was inspired by Russian matryoshka dolls which is conveyed through layers of delicate lace and gold brocade. The collection overall is very wearable, minimalist but perhaps not the most inspiring of collections, however the pieces are truly beautiful, opulent and timeless. 

Alex Perry, two words... THOSE BOOTS! Opting of something a bit different to his usual full length red carpet dresses Alex Perry's collection consisted of edgy short dresses and separates. Perspex with flower detailing, peeps of colour blocking and sports luxe. His designs are structured yet flirty, we love this new look! 

Draping and embellishment was all the rage at Aurelio Costarella. The stage was backdropped with a painting created by Waldemar Kolbusz. Burtsing with colour it was the perfect contrast to the neutral pallet of the pretty Grecian dresses(bar the deep turquoise dresses!)The intricate beading of the face masks was the perfect finishing touch to adorn the models! 

Ginger & Smart's SS13 collection is a feast of colour the graphic prints in hot pink and colbalt blue are striking and kaleidoscope'esque. The collection had a sports luxe vibe portrayed through leather panelling, mesh inserts and sharp silhouettes. The accessories played a big part in this show, box clutches, platform heels and gloves graced the catwalk. This is one collection that left us wishing we owned just about everything!

JJ Rosa, ONE TO WATCH

JJ Rosa, if you haven't heard of her you most definitely will in the near future. Nadine saw her and her band perform on Sunday and has been raving about her so I figured with a high recommendation she was worth checking out. 

Jessie Hancock is from Manchester and performs with drummer Jimmy Wood and bassist Marky Lewis! She's just so cool she's the sort of girl you wish you were friends with and shes super super talented! She has a soulful voice and is awesome on the guitar! Her influences include Jimmy Hendrix, Nina Simone, The Doors and Prince. Since hitting the music scene she has drawn comparisons to the likes of Amy Winehouse, quite a name to live up to but if anyone can do it we'll put our money on Jessie! 

Shes recently been signed to Universal in the states and Warner Bros in the UK so watch this space! Check out her Soundcloud for some Original tracks HERE

MONOCHROME MONOCHROME MONOCHROME....this Madness is everywhere!! 

Seen all over the runways, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Diane von Fuerstenberg,,Balenciaga and Prada just being a few that have rocked this look for the upcoming season.
