FRIDAY LOVING..

It's that Friday feeling again FINALLY! We've had another jammed packed week at CAGECITY and we can't wait to show what we've been preparing for you. 

You all know how much we love vintage here, especially our intern Vikki the Vintage Queen. Move over Kate Moss because on Monday Vikki strutted her stuff in the office in the vintage items she is lusting over. Elizabeth's CAGECITY Summer styling!

Sitting in the office surrounded by such beautiful clothing I can’t help but be distracted, all of a sudden I’ve got my styling goggles on I am struggling to take them off and with all the newness that has been sweeping around the office I can’t stop myself but dream up wicked outfits. A girl can dream can’t she? 

What with this kind of summer we’ve been having by that I mean humid enough to maybe reveal a bit of flesh I am actually getting into the summery mood as I sit here in the office wearing a floral playsuit. Summer means long days out with a cider in my hand lying in the park without a care in the world and I am so excited for that. If you are sharing that summer loving with me, then check out these outfits that I’ve conjured up for sunny days and nights out chilling with friends. For every occasion CAGECITY has you sorted. 
For those BBQ times team this beautiful floral dress with chunky buckled sandals, rounded sunglasses think Ozzy Osborne but more summery and girly then rock king and death, doom and despondency and this trusty leather treasure because it is the bomb. It will also take you from day to night when the sun goes down and the chill comes. It’s vintage too so that’s even better. Even if it is raining at the BBQ toes will be show and lately I’ve been swaying towards chunky buckled sandals lately, they are great for adding that grungy vibe to a cute outfit. Also recently I spotted to wicked ankle cuffs on Hannah Crosskey’s blog and I literally fell in love with them. So add them just above your sandals to create a personal customization effect. It’s those little details that count! 

If you’re just chilling in the park though grab these handmade acid wash high-waisted shorts with this simple black racer back vest. Let’s be realistic here though we aren’t in the tropics now are we with all this skin on show, so wrap up with this loop hole knit cardi, with the holes you won’t feel like you’re wrapping up for winter just embracing the English summer with some serious style. Now I’ve always had a weakness for gold jewellery and lately I’ve been lusting over chunky gold chain necklaces, so grab your gold and the chunkier the better. Add to this black combo outfit a sprig of colour with a floral hair garland. Go all Lana del Reyesque, it is summer after all! You don’t even have to be festival goer to sport one of these as seen by my fav floral crown wear blogger Kavita for shewearsfashion.com, she’s only walking down the street but she works that summer flower vibe. 

Sipping cocktails out on a terrace calls for a dressier occasion and that’s where this vintage beauty comes in. With such a graphic print the dress speaks for itself just pair with simple black strap heeled sandals to add a bit of glamour to that night time look. Saying that I always find printed dresses need to be broken up to create a more defined look so wear a statement block gold belt to cinch in the waist.

I sleep dreaming of vintage.

I hope you all had some crazy ass stories to tell from your alcohol fuelled weekends this morning. If not I'm sure Kim and Kanye's choice of baby name gave you something to discuss over your essential Monday morning coffee. 

Once I had got 'North West' out of the way and came back to the realisation it was the bastard that is Monday, I figured I should probably get some work done. So obviously I spent all morning playing dress up in vintage and pretending I was an extra from Britain and Irelands Next Top Model.... 

If you were unaware of my addiction to vintage, to put it into perspective its like Amanda Bynes' addiction to tweeting her breakdown, Katie Prices' addiction to having babies or Louise Thompson's addiction to crying. IT'S A BIG DEAL. 

I have put together five of my favourite pieces from CAGECITY'S vintage section to get you through Monday afternoon. I'm just really fucking awesome like that.

Meet Maha...

So if you haven't seen already a whole load of newness has hit the site along with a fresh new face!! And doesn't she look hot!! 

Working with Maha was great, she was fun, laid-back, super versatile and absolutely rocked every single outfit! Not to mention her amazing Fro! ;) 

We caught up with our latest muse to get to know a lil more... 

How long how you been modeling for? 

Almost two years now! But I actually used to model as a baby too. 

What has been your best job? 

For me my best job was the NIKE campaign I shot back in November, it was the biggest job I had booked and I did it by myself! We were shooting SS13 in the freezing cold, but we had colourful smoke bombs and glitter, so I loved it! 

What did you think of modeling for CAGECITY? 

Modelling for CAGECITY was a dream! The girls were lovely and I felt super comfortable, although I wanted to steal everything I was wearing, the vintage stuff especially! 

How would you describe your style? 

My style is mostly casual, I like the "boyfriend" look even though i don't have one haha! I'd say for me, comfort is always important- I wear a lot of oversized tees, croptops, and men's clothes! I think they can look good as long as you accessorise with the write jewellery. Big chunky chains and of course heels often make an outfit for me. At the moment I love black, it's all I wear- but I like mixing fabrics, I wear alot of leather, and a whole lot of vintage stuff too. 

Who are your style icons? 

Hmmm, this is a tough one! As I'm not particularly girly, it's going to have to be a boy! I've always really liked A$AP Rocky for his style, he's not too over the top with it and gives off that effortless vibe. I also love the Olsen twins. They have the oversized look on point, without looking drowned in layers! They always still manage to look feminine and classy. 

What are your fashion essentials? 

For me, there are a few things I couldn't live without. First of all, my American apparel easy jeans. I have them in almost every colour! The high waist is great, and I can wear them with anything pretty much, be it an oversized tee or a crop top! Secondly, my sunglasses! I wear them even when it's not sunny haha, cause I'm weird like that! Oh and lipstick. I think that ones a given, no matter how little makeup I have on, a red lip always does me wonders! 

What is your favourite CAGECITY piece? 

My favourite cagecity piece has to be the "it's da bomb" bomber! I loooooved wearing it, and I can picture it in my wardrobe with so many of the things I already have! It's such good quality, I couldn't believe it was vintage- and it was really comfortable, which is top of the list for me!

WE LOVE FRIDAY!

IT'S FRIDAY!!!! 

You know how much we love Fridays and here is why 
1. It’s nearly the weekend 
2. We can get drunk 
3. We don't have to be stuck in the office tomorrow 
4. We can party all night and not have to worry about waking up early 
5. We get two days to just sloth about in our PJ's 

We've had such a busy week here at CAGECITY as always. Monday was completely mad with us rushing about meeting lots of young handmade designers. It was so exciting seeing the gorgeous 6 piece collections that will be hitting the site soon (sneak peek image 1)! We cant wait to re-launch/re-brand our handmade section making it clear, personal and so much better. You will get introduced to each designer, understanding the concept behind the collection, and what you are buying into. Lots happening, all will be revealed in due time. I think I have to say the vintage 'Get Wired Dress' I am definitely staring it at the moment in the office and my oh my isn't it one heck of a beautiful dress.

End of exams style saviours!

Exam period is coming to an end. FINALLY! THANK GOD! LETS PARTY! Rip up those papers, dash the text books and ditch the cue cards because it’s time to celebrate. 

You've probably spent most of your revision day’s day dreaming of what you are going to wear when your exams are over, stressing over your dress more than your actual exams. So don't worry we've got it all sorted for you so all you've got to worry about is having the most crazy night. 

If you're heading into town and getting your glad rags on check out these beauties it will make a change to your PJ’s or tracksuit that you've been stuck in whilst revising. All you need to do is don a pair of heels and you are good to go.

5 Reasons we're glad it's Wednesday!

1. We are officially half way to the weekend. This means only two more days until a sticky dance floor and the bar guy are your new best friends. 

2. That bright yellow thing is in the sky. I think its called the sun....its been so long I can't remember. 

3. We have ditched the layers and are showing some flesh for the first time in what feels like centuries. 

4. We have spent the past four hours dancing around the office to 90's classics like we are reforming a trashy girl band and falling in love with N-Sync's curtains all over again. 'Cause thats the kind of awesome shit Wednesdays were made for and we are through with being cool. 

5. It shares its name with the best character from the Addams Family. THE END!!

Newness has landed!

Gorgeous new pieces have just hit the site...along with Maha..the gorgeous new face!

Monday Madness!

Lots of exciting things happening in the office this week from meetings to events. We have got countless handmade designers coming to see us and we can't wait to see what goodies they are going to bring. 

You may have noticed that we have been calling on independent designers over the past few weeks to join CAGECITY and things are finally in motion. We are re-branding our handmade section and are getting more unique, concept designers on board. This will mean a whole new look and feel to our handmade like nothing you have seen before. 

CAGECITY prides itself on bringing you guys the most exclusive, hottest pieces out there and putting them all in one place. We do all the hard work so you don't have to. Because we love you guys, thats just the kind of awesome shit we do. 

With our new re-branded handmade section not only will you find one off, unique pieces that will make everyone envy you from now until the end of time. You will also get an insight into the background of the designer, who they are, where their inspiration came from and what they are about as a brand. Launching with mini collections from each of our new designers we will also be providing you with images from their individual portfolios and designs they are currently working on for all your fashionista needs. As new handmade buyer I can 100% confirm the new handmade re-branded launch in August is NOT to be missed.
