Introducing Sixth Ape...the talented 21 year old music producer/dj, good friend of CAGECITY and just one damn right cool dude!
Sixth Ape will be working on the music for the behind the scenes video for our next lookbook shoot. Fresh, original and just for CAGECITY...sick!!!
We asked Sixth Ape a few questions so you get a little insight into the guy soon be working on the CAGECITY sound! Sixth Ape x CAGECITY
Who is Sixth Ape?
Piano playing, Bansuri ( Indian flute ) learning, djembe slapping producer/dj. I experiment with various types of musical genes but specialise in deep tribal.
By combining abstract synthesis, deep sub bass and lively percussion I am emerging as a promising talent in the underground scene. ( if I may say so myself) ;)
How long have you been producing music for?
I have been producing music for 4 years now. I started off as a song writer/lyricist but never looked back once I understood software and recording.
What is your inspiration?
Having come from a family of scientists, it was inevitable that would rub off on me. I write my music based on inspiration from cultures, locations, science, wildlife and history ect
I enjoy recording my own sounds. From taking microphones in to forests to recording live instruments in my studio.
Who has influenced you?
I have been influenced by producers such as Killawatt, thelem, biome and many others representing the minimal scene. I combine world music ( African, indian, thai, South American you name it) with hard hitting bass and percussion in an attempt to enter this industry with something a little different.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am currently working on my first e.p 'Arctic chill'. This e.p is inspired by my experience in Iceland. Beautiful landscapes, volcanoes, waterfalls and hikes in the white mountains during unforgiving snow storms.
I recorded many sounds in different locations such as drums in lava tubes, landscape recordings such as waterfalls ect. the idea is to write 4 songs based on my favourite locations. I went with my good friend Aaron Mundow (the photographer and video boss man). The videos coming together at the moment, so will be out soon!
Follow his twitter and like his page, to be the first to know whens his EP drops
This is one guy to keep an eye on...he's mixing up the music scene with original sounds and concepts! Expecting big things boi!! :)
