MINKPINK get down & dirty for High Summer!

Although the UK's weather should dampen our mood we can't help but be excited for Spring/Summer 2013..Even if it is just for the clothes!! 

As stockists of Australian brand Minkpink it isn't hard to get excited, Minkpink have been causing a stir over here in the UK for a lil while now and just looking at their high summer lookbook will give you an idea why!! 

Granted our summer won't bring us as much heat as Oz but that won't stop any of us from raising the temp with our outfits! 

Minkpink's babes get down and dirty at Oz's Ute Deni Muster for this years High Summer Holiday Campaign!! Fun, cheeky and Playful this lookbook runs perfectly with the summer collection. Having fun has never looked so hot! We wanna kick off our cowboy boots and join the models on the rodeo ride :) 

As we may not be able to do this we'll happily settle for the gorgeous playful pieces coming our way, and no doubt when you guys get your mitts on them you'll have as much fun as our Aussie babes across the waters!

Menswear or not...

After the culmination of London Collections MEN week last week, we are LOVING some of the collections shown. Graphic prints, continuous patterns and feminine fusions (Not to mention a flood of this season of the moment colour; Orange) were everywhere, but we HAD to show you our favourite, home girl KATIE EARY. Graduating form her MA at the Royal college of Art in 2008, Eary is a London based designer who was instantly spotted by British Vogue and after showing her first collection, was immediately shooting with the now household name, Mario Testino. 

Her latest collection is a bold and explosive eclectic combination of digital prints clashing with holographic silks in vivid feminine hues. Though predominantly a menswear designer, we had to pick our jaws off the floor when we saw the only female strut out in print-clashing, fuscia ensemble comprised of oversized slouchy sweater and high-waisted cigarette skinnys! LOVE! 

As CageCity grows, our next step and dream is to incorporate menswear to our brand, and this will hopefully show an idea of the direction we want to go in. Be gone high street conformism and the embarrassment of walking past someone wearing YOUR t-shirt. BE INDIVIDUAL! Fashion is crazy, daring and fun, and with our help, let your wardrobe amaze. Break the mould! 

SHIREEKA DEVLIN - Causing Rainbow Ripples!

Shireeka Devlin. The pint-sized fashionista who is causing MAJOR rainbow ripples in the fashion industry. 

Having graduated from London College of Fashion in 2012, Shireeka won the Lycra Future Designer Award at last year?s Global Fashion award with her intricate, crazy and every-colour-under-the-sun graphic prints. 

Inspired by the cut and tailoring of menswear, her collection (entitled ?Trippin over my dreams?) is more a series of wearable art inspired by illusion art and her sights throughout her day. 

The uber-feminine colours of her work fusing with the abstract and sometimes bizarre prints result in an amazing and unique combination that we absolutely love! 

Having interned with the now renowned Mary Katrantzou and been a major collaborating force with Vidal Sassoon, Shireeka is now in full development and ?Get-brand-Shireeka-running? mode and we can?t wait to see what the future has in store for this Irish beauty. 

We can only hope to get our hands on her pieces soon; we are MAD for her ?Fat Rico trousers? and her ?Pens gone wild leggings.? You go Shireeka! 

STYLE CRUSH - GILLIAN ZINSER

Gillian Zinser, She has the "effortlessly cool" look down to a T! Her surfer/rock-chic style is everything to envy. 

She has starred in 90210 and had modelled for american brands like planteblue. As far as celebs go she is probably one of the best role models, not only did she donate a pair of her own amazing shoes to charity shoe revolt which is against the sexual exploitation of women in the usa but is also part of charity ?artists for peace and justice? to help raise money for children in haiti. what-a-babe! 

If you want to get her black maxi red carpet look just tie a check shirt over our StyleStalker Rebell Yell Dress and throw your hair in a messy topknot.

Trend Alert - Holographic, Metallic & Shine. 

Yea so if you haven't heard (sure you have)...holographic, Metallic & shine are gona be huge this season (trend alert)! We are not really one to jump on a trend, we pride our style influence on you guys, street style, roaming the roads perving over your choice of outfits and styling...but gotta say we are loving it! (see previous blog on Emma Mulholland). 

It takes me back to my collection of holographic, shimmery marbles as a kid. So we are embracing the new trend! Bring on the shine....

Alia Wang... One super cool 3 year old!

Not many words are needed when it comes to Aila Wang , Alexander Wang's 3 year old niece. We are in awe of her all black mature toddler-chic and are very excited to see her style in 15 years time.

Couture...the queen of handmade! 

So today marks the start of Spring 2013 couture fashion week in Paris, and being a lover of all things handmade and crafted we just had to write a little blog. 

Obviously most of us can only just dream of owning an Haute Couture item, with pieces retailing for five or even six figure sums, with but we still love gawping at the works of art created by high end designers such as Chanel, Dior, Versace and Ellie Saab. 

Couture for those of you that do not know, means dress making, sewing or needle work. Each piece is handmade and sewn by the most experienced seamstresses using time consuming, hand executed techniques. Each item can take months to make and numerous seamstresses at work. 

So in celebration of couture fashion week, why not check out our very own version of couture ;)....CAGECITYS handmade :). Each item may not take many months to create but rest assured, they are still made with attention to detail and plenty of love!
